About Pink Flamingo
My name is Dave Moore. I and a former business
partner started the original company in late 1999
by mowing lawns and pulling weeds for our
neighbors. The company grew from there.
At the height of our maintenance days we were
running 3 trucks and had more than 150 accounts
in and around central San Diego.
From the very beginning, in addition to providing
regular maintenance, we were receiving  requests
to do construction projects (irrigation systems,
driveways, walls, lights, new plantings, drainage
etc..). Since the beginning of the company, I and
my awesome team have completed more than 200
landscape projects. Some were small and some
were very large. We are exceptionally strong in
the small to mid level projects.
I am fortunate to have a great team behind me
and love my job. I tend to have a very good eye for
creating a correct landscape for the property. I am
able to easily adapt and adjust most facets to be
appropriate for their environment.
Earlier this year I did away with subcontractors
and now have everyone in house as employees.
This means that you, the consumer, are fully
protected in the event anything happens while we
are working for you. We carry full workman's
compensation coverage for our staff and have a 0
claims experience. We belong to the Better
Business Bureau, the Greater San Diego Business
Association and the California Landscape
Contractor's Association. Every single one of my
people is fluent in English as their primary
language and of course is legal to work in the
United States. I do pay very fair wages to my
people as well as match them on benefits after
they have satisfied new hire probation. I also drug
test my people monthly to better serve you the
client as well as our company's long term
sustainability and growth plan. I actively train my
people not only in construction and maintenance
work, but also work with them to gain and build
their own skills so that they may one day become
my competitor. Their efforts and energies benefit
not only themselves, but also you the client as
well as me, the owner. By teaching effective time
management and project management /
coordination skills, we empower the staff to make
correct decisions in the field and therefore benefit
everyone.
In the spring of 2008 I began doing maintenance
again in response to a slowing economy in
construction. As of September 15, 2009 we are
servicing more than 80 accounts on a regularly
scheduled basis and are gaining an average of 2
new accounts per week. We currently have three
(3) open construction sites and 2 to start.

Pink Flamingo is a socially conscious company.
We contribute as we are able to several good
and worthwhile groups. We encourage you to
consider supporting these great causes as well.

My philosophy:  you don't have to be gay to be
a great Landscaper, but it helps:)

Burning Man
     2009
Here are some of the pictures from Burning Man 2009. My first 'Burn'. I am
now hooked. 50,000 people attempt to create a Utopian Society based upon art
in the middle of the high desert, then leave no trace after 8 days. If you can
dream it you can find it there. Incredibly creative minds, intelligent,
thoughtful and educated brains with original thoughts abound.
I am most sorrowful I allowed myself to misinterpret the Burn for all of these
years. I have missed out on so much there. I thought it was mainly a drug /
drinking fest in the desert with no rules. I now know differently and
encourage everyone to attend at least twice :) If you want the all night dancing
/ drugging / drinking - it is there, but there is so much more to be
experienced so don't let your misconceptions deny you the opportunity to
experience living art and the attempt at a Utopia.
